The Nation’s Largest Christmas Party for the Homeless

Saturday, December 19, 2009, Operation Care–Dallas will host the nation’s largest Christmas Party for the homeless. From 10 AM UNTIL 3 PM (CST), thousands of homeless will be bused to the Dallas Convention Center from shelters and streets around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to be the guests of honor. They will receive free medical care, food, gifts, makeovers, haircuts, shoes, entertainment, and more. An entire section will be devoted to children with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a petting zoo, crafts, shoes, coats, and toys.

This year’s theme is “Operation Coming Home”. Our goal is to assist homeless men and women in reuniting and restoring relationships with their families. During the event, our guests will be introduced to resources in job counseling, housing, education, churches, and shelters. We will also provide medical and legal assistance with the belief that this will lead them to a better quality and productive life. Operation Care will share the spirit of Christmas with thousands of homeless men, women and children regardless of race, color or creed.

This year, the Veteran’s Administration of Dallas will partner with us in presenting special honor to our homeless veterans. (Approximately one-quarter of the homeless nationwide are veterans; however in Dallas, the percentage is nearly 30 percent.) These men and women have served our country admirably, and we desire to give special tribute and encouragement to them.

We are expecting between 8,000 - 9,000 homeless men, women and children from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We have invited five other cities - Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Irving and Denton - to join us for this one of a kind Christmas Party.
